What is ablip?

ablip is a place for random thoughts, observations, questions and images — things you might not have been looking for, but might be glad you found.

You can simply ask:

Give me a blip.

And we’ll give you one.

It might be useful.
It might be funny.
It might be completely pointless.
It might unexpectedly say exactly what you needed to hear.

We don’t know which is which.

That’s partly the point.

Why ablip?

The universe is big.

Really big.

Earth is a tiny point in the vastness of space.

A human life is an even tinier point in the vastness of time.

And yet, somehow, every little thing that happens to us feels enormous while we’re inside it.

A conversation.
A mistake.
A promotion.
A bad investment.
A photograph.
A legal problem.
A thought that arrives at 2:17 in the morning and refuses to leave.

For a few moments, it can feel like the entire universe revolves around that one thing.

Then time passes.

The problem changes.

Something else happens.

And eventually, most things become what they probably were all along:

a blip.

ablip is a collection of those little moments, thoughts, observations, questions and images.

Some are blips.
Some need a little more room and become blobs.
Some are photographs.
Some are ideas worth sitting with.

There is no particular order.

There isn’t supposed to be.

Give me a blip.

You decide what it means.

What is a blip?

A blip is a small, temporary change, interruption or problem that doesn’t last long and doesn’t matter much in the bigger picture.

At least, that’s one definition.

We like ours better.

Why the letters?

The slightly unlikely story behind the name, the idea that inspired it, and how A · B · L · I · P found their homes.
